Police have arrested a 48-year-old Lexington man in the late night shooting death of a 29-year-old man.

Lexington Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel said Mike D. Rieder was arrested early Sunday morning after he got into an argument with a 29-year-old man at the Shell gas station on 781 New Circle Road. Van Brackel said that Rieder and the victim apparently got into a disagreement earlier that night at the Office Lounge, a near-by bar. The argument continued at the gas station.

The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Rieder left the scene of the shooting but later called the Lexington police. Police later brought him in for questioning and charged him with one count of murder.

The Fayette County Coroner’s office has not yet released the name of the victim. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.

Rieder is currently being detained at the Fayette County Detention Center.
