More than 150 people competed in the inaugural "Running for Holly," a 5K race on the University of Kentucky campus to benefit an advocacy center named for a former UK student who survived a vicious attack while she was a student in 1997.

The Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority hosted Sunday's run to benefit Holly's House, an advocacy center in Evansville, Ind., for children and adult victims of abuse and sexual crimes. Holly Dunn-Pendleton, a co-founder, was a student at the University of Kentucky in 1997 when she and her boyfriend were attacked by Angel Maturino Resendiz, known as the "Railroad Killer." Her boyfriend, Christopher Maier, was killed. Dunn-Pendleton was raped, stabbed and left for dead. Resendiz was executed in Texas in 2006 for killing 15 people.

Dunn-Pendleton, the only survivor of the "Railroad Killer," was a Kappa Kappa Gamma member at UK.

The men's and women's winners were Tim Brett, with a time of 18 minutes, 46 seconds, and Roberta Myer, 20:23. Student winners were Matt Soergel in 20:30 and Anna Grisanti in 21:27.

The sorority raised about $2,500 Sunday.
