Coroner IDs motorcycle rider killed on New Circle Road

Investigators have identified Kevin Goldsmith as the motorcyclist who was killed on New Circle Road Thursday when he was hit by a car after falling off his bike.

Goldsmith, 26, of Lexington died of multiple blunt force trauma, according a release from the Fayette County Coroner's office.

Goldsmith was riding a 2006 Suzuki GSXR 600 at high-rate of speed about 10:20 p.m., according to a news release from Lexington police. He lost control between Richmond Road and Alumni Drive, crashing into the cable barrier that divides the inner and outer loops of New Circle.

Goldsmith was thrown from his bike and landed in the left lane of the inner loop, where he was hit by a Pontiac Grand Am driven by Jeannette M. Reeves, 22, the release said.

Goldsmith was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed. Lexington police are looking for two drivers who may have seen the rider lose control. Witnesses said a black Pontiac Trans Am and an unknown brown passenger car were in the area but continued driving after the wreck.
