April 22, 2011

NICHOLASVILLE — For the first time, My Old Kentucky Dinner Train will depart from Lexington for two special trips for the public the week after the Kentucky Derby.

The train will depart from Lexington and go to Frankfort and back, R.J. Corman Railroad Group announced on Thursday.

The first trip will leave at 6 p.m. on May 10 and gets back about 8:30 p.m., and will feature a new spring menu. The second trip with wine and dinner will leave at 6 p.m. and return about 9 p.m. on May 12.

The cost of the May 10 trip is $89.95 per person. The cost of the May 12 trip is $125 per person.

Executive chef Gil Logan was recently hired to manage the dinner train, which is based in Bardstown. The train has operated from there since 1988.

As a Kentucky Derby tradition, R.J. Corman Railroad Group has entertained VIP clients by taking a train from its Buchanan Street Yard off West Main Street in Lexington to Churchill Downs in Louisville. This is the first time an excursion trip has been made available to the public from Lexington.

Ticket reservations may be made by calling 866-801-3463 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
