Lexington racing academy to be featured on NBC

May 5, 2011

The North American Racing Academy, a Lexington school that teaches students the skills of horse racing, will be featured on NBC's Today Show between 8 and 9 a.m. Thursday.

The school began in 2006 under the tutelage of Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron.

In addition to teaching about how to be jockey, the school prepares students for careers in training, farm management, and other aspects of the horse industry.

The academy is one of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System's Centers of Excellence.

To date, graduates of the school have won 815 races and earned more than $10 million in purses.
