Kentucky football recruit Towles among four state players nominated to U.S. Army All-American Bowl

Highlands quarterback Patrick Towles, who has commited to play football at the University of Kentucky, is among four high school players from the commonwealth nominated to play in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The annual East vs. West matchup, televised live by NBC, is scheduled for Jan. 7.

Kentucky's four seniors-to-be were among 440 nominees nationwide. Ninety will be selected to play in the All-American Bowl.

Nominated along with Towles were Dixie Heights quarterback Zeke Pike (Auburn commitment), Lawrence County offensive lineman Tyler Combs (Marshall) and Central running back Anthony Wales, who reportedly has received scholarship offers from several schools, including UK, Louisville and Western Kentucky.
