LOUISVILLE — A Louisville woman has been charged with murder after her 2-year-old son died when, police say, she left the toddler in a car for several hours.

Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said Molly Shouse, 28, was arrested Saturday afternoon. Smiley told The Courier-Journal that her son, Kentron Brown, was left inside a Toyota Corolla for several hours.

Smiley said a witness removed the boy from the car and tried unsuccessfully to revive him. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsy results were pending Sunday.

Police added charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance on Sunday. Arraignment is set for 9 a.m. Monday at Louisville Metro Corrections.
