A Paris girl died in the hospital Friday, a week after she was injured in a car crash.

Loretta Jeanette Brewer, 4, was pronounced dead at 8:40 a.m. at Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington.

The wreck happened at 9:55 p.m. May 20 in Clark County, about 7 miles east of Winchester.

Brewer was in the back seat of a car being driven by her father on Ironworks Road when a pickup truck turning left from Stoner Ephesus Road pulled into their path, according to a news release from the Fayette County Coroner's Office.

The girl was taken by helicopter to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for emergency care and was later transferred to the children's hospital's pediatric intensive care unit.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office, who investigated the crash, could not immediately be reached for comment. The death is being treated as an accident, the release said.
