Two killed in Floyd County wreck

HUNTER — Two people were killed in a crash Wednesday evening on Ky. 122 in Floyd County.

Trooper Shaun Little, spokesman of Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Floyd County, said a 2000 Dodge pickup driven by James Slone was traveling east on Ky. 122 when it crossed the center line, colliding with a westbound Chevrolet pickup driven by Jeffery Hamilton, 36, of McDowell.

Hamilton and a passenger in Slone's vehicle, Karen Mitchell, 43, of Hi Hat, were pronounced dead at the scene by Floyd County Deputy Coroner Wesley Gayheart.

Injured passengers from both vehicles were flown to a hospital in Holston Valley, Tenn. Further details were not immediately available.
