Rupp Arena will have more space for wheelchair-bound fans next season, the Lexington Center Corp., announced Thursday.
About $200,000 will be budgeted to create space in the upper arena for the first time. The construction will take about 10 weeks to complete,
The project allows Rupp Arena to remain in compliance with updates to the Americans With Disabilities Act, LCC president and CEO Bill Owen said.
About 100 seats in eight upper arena rows will be affected. UK is working with affected season-ticket holders to find alternative seating, the school said.
Additional upper-level accessible seating will be available to current season ticket holders based on K Fund priority points amassed before the 2011-12 season, UK said.
