Kentucky Speedway facts

Location: Sparta (Gallatin County)

Area: The Speedway was constructed on 850 acres.

Track dimensions: 1.5-mile tri-oval with 14-degree banking in the turns and a 1,600-foot backstretch. The tri-oval is 57 feet wide and includes a 12-foot apron.

Seating: 107,000 grandstand seats; 35 luxury suites; 90-seat private interior Kentucky Club; 2,100-seat private exterior Bluegrass Club; seven terrace boxes.

Campgrounds/parking: 125 private, backstretch RV spaces; 600 infield RV spaces; 4,000 reserved RV spaces; parking for more than 30,000 cars.

Saturday's schedule

7 a.m.: Buses and trams for fans begin operations

8 a.m.: Parking lots open

9 a.m.: Gate 20 and Gate 20 ticket booth open. Souvenir Row and midway displays open

9 a.m.-8:30 p.m.: Ticket office hours

9 a.m.-11 p.m.: Gift shop hours

2 p.m.: All gates open

2:40-3:40 p.m.: Pace-car rides

5 p.m.: Pre-race concert by Clay Walker

7 p.m.: Sprint Cup Series driver introductions

7:30 p.m.: Sprint Cup Series race: Quaker State 400 (267 laps, 400 miles)

Weather

Saturday's forecast for Sparta calls for sunny skies and a high of 89 degrees. Expect a race-time temperature of about 83 degrees, dropping into the 70s after the sun sets. No rain is forecast.

Tickets

■ Grandstand tickets are sold out.

■ Tickets are available for the Pit Road Club in the infield ($400) and for standing room only on the Turn 1 and Turn 4 concourses ($65).

Getting in and around

Ticket policies

Refunds: Kentucky Speedway does not issue refunds for any reason. If the race is postponed, tickets will be honored on the rescheduled date.

Re-entry: Fans may use their race tickets to exit and re-enter the track an unlimited number of times. Tickets must be scanned upon exiting and re-entering.

Scalping: Kentucky Speedway prohibits the resale of tickets, at any value, on its property.

Tips for fans

What to wear and bring

■ Comfortable shoes are a must. The speedway covers a lot of ground, and so will your feet.

■ A fanny pack or small backpack is useful for carrying essentials, keeps your hands free and makes for a light load.

■ Seat cushions are an added comfort during a long night on the hard grandstands.

■ Some additional items for your pre-race checklist:

Children may receive a free wristband at the information and guest services booths around the speedway. The band will help your child be located should you become separated.

Traffic tips

■ Arrive early. The highest traffic time is within four hours of the race.

■ Make sure to have a full tank of gas. Getting into and out of the speedway could take more time than you anticipate.

Directions

Fans in Central Kentucky planning to take I-75 North to the speedway need to pay close attention to these directions:

■ The I-75 North ramp to I-71 at Exit 173 will be closed Saturday. A signed detour will direct traffic north to Exit 175 at Richwood. Traffic will then be directed back to southbound I-75/I-71, where it will be able to access I-71 South at Exit 173.

■ Once on I-71 South, proceed to Exit 57 to enter the speedway.

■ Fans with vehicles bearing parking credentials should use Exit 57.

Note: Fans traveling I-71 North from Louisville and points south will be directed to Exit 55.
