Work began Monday on removal of the two scoreboards behind each end zone at Commonwealth Stadium to make way for the new Daktronics HD-X scoreboards that will be installed in August. The project will include a digital ribbon board that will surround the interior of the seating bowl, a new sound system and a high-definition control room. The new video boards will be about 37 feet high and 80 feet wide, or almost 3,000 square feet, making them the 15th-largest scoreboards in the country.
The first University of Kentucky home game will be Saturday, Sept. 10, against Central Michigan.
