Outlook: Renee Miller has added new assistants in her second season as coach. She als has some talented new players to mix with her returnees, who include two juniors who earned all-city recognition last year: Hallie Scanlon (second team) and Hannah Goodwin (honorable mention). "Our offense will be very strong this year, led by Hannah McGoodwin and Chelsea Gess," Miller said. "We have some upcoming freshmen, Erika Cusic and Korie Yates, who will control the defense. This should be a great year for us, with a lot of improvement from the year prior."

Our goal is to get to the next level and more with the help and leadership of 11 seniors." Among the 11 seniors are three all-city selections from last season — first-teamer Olivia Max and second-teamers Rachel Geil and Emily Rodes.

Outlook: Coach Terry Quigley says he will need some games to sort out the players' positions, but thinks his girls could turn in another very good year. "We have some very technically strong girls and we have speed in some spots, but we don't have speed all over the field," he said. "We've got a returning senior goalkeeper (Kate Fitzgerald) that had a great year last year, so that will be a strength."

Outlook: The Eagles have a bright outlook despite having lost eight starters from last year's state runner-up squad. "Overall, we are pretty young and inexperienced, but we have a nice team in the sense that they are willing to work hard and learn every day," Coach Steve Fugmann said. "We have a long laundry list of little things to work on. It is our hope to complete the list before tournament time begins. If team attitude is any indication, then we should complete it on time. There is a lot of potential with this team despite the newness of it."

Outlook: Coming off an Elite Eight season, the Commodores' losses include four-year starter Alyssa Kruse, now at Transylvania. "Last year's seniors also provided excellent leadership so it will be interesting to see which players step up to fill those roles," Lankster said. "Several good younger players will be asked to step in and make big contributions if we are going to make a deep run." The coach is especially hoping to avoid injuries, having finished last season without four starters.
