New store in Stonewall Shopping center is a bistro, boutique and wine shop

Bourbon n' Toulouse is among the restaurants participating in the Chevy Chase street fair.

A new store in Stonewall Shopping Center, Modern Mercantile & WM Wine Shop, offers three great experiences in one location: a bistro, a boutique and a wine shop.

On Friday, the store at 3101 Clays Mill Road will have a wine tasting and beer sampling 6:30 to 11 p.m. Live entertainment begins at 7 p.m., featuring guitarist Johnny Roy. The dinner menu features spanakopita, quiche, roast chicken, 15-bean soup, chicken and feta pie, potato pancakes and homemade bread. Call (859) 223-0471.

Events

■ The restaurants in Chevy Chase will participate in the neighborhood's street fair on Saturday by moving outdoors. Charlie Brown's will have a beverage stand, and Bourbon n' Toulouse, The Dish, Buddy's, Puccini's, MonTea and Rincon will sell their most popular specialties. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m.

The Crossroad, 286 Southland Drive, is going Cajun on Saturday. Mark and the Pentones, a house band at The Funky Pirate on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, will entertain from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There will be an $8 cover charge, with proceeds to be donated to the Lexington fire department's toy drive, or guests may bring a new toy.

Chef/owner Steve Atkins will prepare a Cajun/Creole menu that includes sausage and shrimp gumbo; sautéed red snapper with hoppin' John; cornbread, chicory and arugula salad with duck breast bacon; and bananas Foster. Call (859) 309-3904.

Three Suns Bistro at Brannon Crossing is having a seafood weekend Friday and Saturday. The menu features oysters on the half-shell, clams casino, crab-stuffed mushrooms, shrimp boil, stuffed sole and salmon Oscar. Dessert is milk chocolate bread pudding with white chocolate sauce. ■ The Danville Fazoli's, 1560 Hustonville Road, is having an all-you-can-eat pasta dinner to raise money for the Stephanie Padgett family. In May, two of Padgett's children were killed in a car crash and two others were severely injured. The fund-raiser, 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, will assist the Padgett family with costs stemming from the accident. Tickets, $8 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and younger, are available in advance at the restaurant or at the door.

Farmers market report

■ On Saturday, the vendors at the Bluegrass Farmers Market on Richmond Road will have recipes available for using their farm-fresh produce. The market is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Pedal the Planet and Fast Signs.

The market's second location, at Mill Pond Shopping Center, is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Go to Localharvest.org/blog/29529.

■ The East End Community Farmers Market will have corn, green beans, melons, tomatoes, honey and peppers. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 560 East Third Street in the Pavilion at Midland Avenue.

■ The Woodford County Farmers Market is 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at Courthouse Square, 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays in downtown Midway and 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Versailles Presbyterian Church.

■ The Lexington Farmers Market is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Cheapside Park in the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday on Southland Drive near Sav-a-Lot, and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at South Broadway and Maxwell Street.

■ The Kentucky Proud Farmers Market at the Kentucky State Fair is outside the West Hall at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Kentucky Proud vendors are offering samples of their products in the West Hall, and commodity organizations are selling their products at the Great Kentucky Cook-Out Tent. The fair continues through Sunday.
