Owingsville man charged with abuse of infant

A Bath County man was charged early Thursday with criminal abuse after a hospital reported suspicious injuries to a 3-month-old infant, Kentucky State Police said.

Matthew P. Jones, 22, of Owingsville was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center after he was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Thursday and charged with first-degree abuse of a child 12 or younger, police said.

The Saint Claire Medical Center in Morehead reported the infant's injuries to police at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday. The Bath County Emergency Medical Service had taken the child, identified in the police report as juvenile Jones, to the hospital from a home on Paradise Lane.
