One worker was hurt in a fire at a London plant late Thursday, according to London police.

Two men were preparing to clean filters atop a silo at the Sara Lee Bakery when a plume of fire shot up from the bottom of the structure, according to police.

One worker, Javier Alvarado, turned away and was not hurt, but James Sullivan was bent over, looking down into the silo. He was burnt on his face and shoulders, Alvarado told police.

Sullivan was responsive after the accident and climbed down from the top of the silo.

He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in London for treatment.

Alvarado told police he and Sullivan had run an extension cord to a light at the bottom of the silo shortly before the fire.
