Lexington Christian Academy senior Taylor Barnette committed to play basketball at Central Florida Thursday night while Knights Coach Donnie Jones was making an in-home visit.

Barnette, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard who averaged 17 points and six rebounds last season, made an official visit to Central Florida last weekend and realized it was the place for him.

"I loved everything about it," he said. "It's all about fit. I feel I fit in with the coaches — Coach Jones is a great guy — the players and the style of play.

"After I got home, I continued to pray about it and it was like God was calling me to go there.

"It's a great relief and also exciting to have (recruiting) over with before the season. I want to focus on our team at LCA and try to help us have a great year."

Barnette, who hit 36 percent of his three-pointers last season, had taken an official visit to Wofford and had planned an official visit to Samford before he settled on Central Florida.
