Kelsey DeBord, freshman, sampled water during a taste-test to guess which sample was tap at the Transylvania University Sustainability Fair on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 in Lexington, Ky. Transylvania University's Sustainability Fair had a table dedicated to explaining to students and employees why bottled water is a waste of resources. Transy is one of the colleges in our area that is trying to break the habit of bottled water, instead encouraging students to use tap water and multi-use bottles. The reasoning is that plastic bottles encourage students to use water that has been transported for hundreds of miles and that the bottles themselves are a waste of resources.
