Gourmet grocery chain Trader Joe's will open its first Kentucky store Friday in Louisville. The store at 4600 Shelbyville Road will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, according to the chain's Web site.
The company also plans to open a store in Lexington some time next year at 2326 Nicholasville Road, the former site of Joe's Crab Shack. Some work, including clearing a tree and removing items from inside the former restaurant, has begun on the property.
The Trader Joe's store closest to Lexington is in Cincinnati, at 7788 Montgomery Road.
