Man accused of killing Lexington dermatologist is back in Fayette County

Published: November 18, 2011

The man accused of gunning down a Lexington dermatologist at her Huguenard Drive office is back in Fayette County after fighting extradition from an Ohio jail for more than two months.

Marty Lee Roe, 62, is charged with murder for the death of Dr. Martha Post. He is also accused of tampering with evidence and harassing communication. Roe was being held in Logan County, Ohio, where he was arrested by a fugitive task force several days after Post was killed on Sept. 1.

Roe was arrested at a bar in Lakeview, Ohio, on an outstanding warrant for harassing communications stemming from phone calls he made to Post, according to an arrest warrant. He was later charged with murder and tampering with evidence after police interviewed him and found a gun and bullets in the engine compartment of his van.

At an extradition hearing Wednesday, the Logan County judge presiding over Roe's case ruled that Roe would be turned over to the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. Fayette County sheriff's deputies picked him up Thursday, according to a news release.

Roe was lodged in the Fayette County jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Friday, the release said.
