The prognosis is good for A'dia Mathies and her injured left ankle. X-rays showed no damage for Kentucky's points and steals leader, and she has been improving daily, UK spokeswoman Susan Lax said Tuesday.

Mathies, who averages 16.8 points and 4.1 steals a game (eighth nationally), injured her ankle at practice on Saturday and sat out the Cats' game Sunday versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff as a precaution.

She is listed as day-to-day leading up to No. 8 UK's game at No. 3 Notre Dame on Sunday.

Mathies got more good news Tuesday, earning player of the week honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. The honor came on the heels of her second straight Southeastern Conference Player of the Week award on Monday.

The Louisville native scored a season-best 23 points for UK in its win over then-No. 6 Duke on Thursday.
