Reports: Ex-Cat Cassity to leave Marshall for job at UK

Marshall University secondary coach Mike Cassity will leave the Thundering Herd to take the same position with Kentucky's football team, according to several unconfirmed reports Friday.

Cassity, a former UK player and assistant coach, declined to comment on the reports through Marshall's sports information staff.

Kentucky officials said no announcement would be made until at least Jan. 3, when school reopens.

"The university is officially closed this week and we must fulfill personnel hiring regulations before announcing a hire," football spokesman Tony Neely said Friday via email.

Cassity, who has been at Marshall since 2010, was most notably the defensive coordinator at Louisville from 2004-07. The Fort Campbell native previously coached the secondary at Kentucky from 1979-81.
