Fast Break: A quick summary of UK's win over Ark.-Little Rock

Herald-Leader Staff ReportJanuary 4, 2012

Talking points

Maybe it was a Louisville letdown, but Kentucky was anything but sharp against a 5-10 Trojan team whose best player was sitting out injured. UK was careless with the ball and slow to get back on defense. The Trojans took a 7-6 lead and UK held only one other lead the rest of first half. UALR led 30-27 at the break. Early in the second half, the UK defense geared it up and UK went on a 23-1 run behind a couple of Darius Miller three-pointers and the all-around play of Anthony Davis.

Telling numbers

■ UK had more turnovers (13) than baskets (11) in the first half.

■ The Trojans started the second half going 1-for-12 shooting.

■ UK led for less than five minutes in the first half. Previously, UK had trailed only North Carolina and Indiana at the half.

■ Anthony Davis: 22 points, 16 rebounds and two missed shots.

Thumbs up

■ The Kentucky defense held the Trojans to three points and no baskets for 10 minutes during its run.

■ Darius Miller went over the 1,000-point club in his UK career.

Thumbs down

■ For the first 25 minutes, UK played as poorly as any UK team has since Calipari arrived in Lexington.

■ For the second straight game, Kentucky was sloppy with the ball. UK had 13 turnovers in the first half while forcing three.
