Man dies in Knott County wreck

A man was killed Wednesday in a wreck in Knott County, state police said in a news release.

Jerry M. Moore, 51, of Lackey was driving on KY 550 when he lost control of his vehicle, which went over an embankment and hit a tree before ending up partially submerged in a creek, according to the release.

It took rescue workers more than two hours to free Moore. He was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph Hospital in Martin, state police said.

The wreck happened about 12:05 p.m. in the Lackey community.
