Somerset: A woman from Eubank was injured when her car was hit by a train about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Mary Rutherford, 53, was driving a Ford Focus when she stopped in the middle of a railroad crossing on Freedom Church Road about 10 miles north of Somerset and was hit by a northbound train, according to a news release from the Pulaski County sheriff’s office.

The sheriff was still ­investigating to determine what caused Rutherford to stop on the tracks. She was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where she was listed in fair condition Monday night.
