A Paris man was charged with murder after an altercation at a home in Paris on Saturday morning.

Ernest Waugh, 51, of Paris, died as a result of an assault at 780 Connelly Alley, Bourbon County Deputy Coroner Terry Pollitt said.

Paris police said they were called to the home at 11 a.m. and found the unresponsive man inside.

While police were still talking to witnesses, they said Herbert W. Jones Jr. came back to the scene and was identified by witnesses as the man Waugh had been fighting with just before police were called.

Jones, 58, of Paris, was arrested and taken to the Bourbon County Detention Center. He was being held on $100,000 bond.

Pollitt said Waugh died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Hinton-Turner Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements.
