The Kentucky Horse Council has pledged $25,000 toward the upcoming Kentucky Equine Survey. The survey, an attempt to quantify horse ownership, will be conducted by the National Agricultural Statistics Survey later this year. The deadline to submit names for the survey is Feb. 17.
To sign up, go to Kentuckyhorse.org/KES-names. All names will be private.
The Kentucky Horse Council received a $200,000 grant from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, with $100,000 more if the organization can find matching funds.
"This survey is of extreme importance to the future of our industry," said Anna Zinkhorn, president of the horse council. "This will be the first comprehensive survey of Kentucky's horses in 35 years. We need an accurate and detailed baseline to determine areas for industry growth. The KHC board hopes other groups/businesses will respond to this challenge pledge."
