Churchill Downs Inc. announced Friday after the close of the stock market that it had bought a poker magazine and associated websites. Purchase price was not disclosed.

Churchill, which has moved into casino gambling and is lobbying for expanded gambling in Kentucky, bought Bluff Magazine, which it called the industry-leading poker periodical, in Atlanta.

The deal also includes BluffMagazine.com as well as ThePokerDB, a database that tracks the performance of poker players and tournaments.

According to BluffMagazine.com, the purchase also includes Fight! Magazine, which covers and ranks mixed martial arts fighters.

The purchase includes online assets but Bluff Media has not engaged in online gambling, Churchill said. But that might change.

According to the announcement, Churchill "believes this acquisition potentially provides it with new business avenues to pursue in the event there is a liberalization of state or federal laws with respect to Internet poker in the United States."

A Justice Department ruling in December raised the possibility of legalizing forms online gambling beyond pari-mutuel wagering on races.
