Voters in Corbin approved package alcohol sales in a special election Tuesday.
The vote for expanded alcohol sales was 887 to 789 against, according to election officials in Whitley and Knox counties. Corbin is incorporated in both counties.
Voters in the city approved alcohol sales at larger restaurants only in 2003. Tuesday's vote will allow alcohol sales at liquor stores and other businesses.
Votes are scheduled soon on allowing package sales in London and on restaurant alcohol sales in Williamsburg, both near Corbin.
