High school basketball highlights: Feb. 17

Boys

■ Charlie Rogers hit a layup to break a 61-61 tie with nine seconds left and host Clark County went on to upset Henry Clay 64-61. With six seconds left, Taylor Howard stole the ball from Trey Grundy to prevent the Blue Devils, ranked eighth in Dave Cantrall's Rating the State, from coming back. No. 25 Clark County got 18 points from Bopper Stenzel and 10 rebounds from Rogers. Henry Clay was led by Grundy with 19 points and Jordan Green with 16.

■ Patrick Nicodem hit a shot with three seconds left in overtime to lift visiting Lexington Christian past Western Hills 67-65. Nicodem had tied the game at 59 with a free throw with 14 seconds left in regulation, but missed a second free throw that would have given the Eagles a lead. With four seconds left he rebounded a missed Western Hills three-pointer to send the game into overtime. Ryan Barrass of Western Hills led all scorers with 25 points, hitting eight of 11 shots, while Nicodem led LCA with 18. The winners were outshot 52 percent to 42 percent but forced more turnovers, 19-10.

■ Daulton Peters scored 26 points, hitting 12 of 15 shots, to lead West Jessamine past host Paul Dunbar 81-71. Mike Smith led Dunbar with 25. The Colts outrebounded the Bulldogs 32-18, with Jeff Ziemann grabbing 10.

■ Guard Isaiah Ivey hit 10 of 15 shots for 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds as host Scott County routed Western 70-46. Scott County, ranked fourth in the state, forced 27 turnovers, resulting in 23 points. Chris McCraw had 18 points and eight rebounds for Western.

■ Junior Timmy Bradshaw scored 26 points to lead East Jessamine past visiting Model 89-68.

■ Derek Willis, committed to play for Kentucky, scored 22 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as No. 9 Bullitt East got its 22nd victory, 73-52 over Elizabethtown.

■ Freshman Zachary Caldwell scored 24 points as Harlan County ran its record to 26-4 by nipping Whitley County 56-53.

■ Senior center Will Branham scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Pikeville ran its record to 19-11 by throttling host Betsy Layne, now 20-4.
