A man was found dead after a fire at a home in Georgetown Tuesday night.

Scott County Coroner John Goble said the man, who has not been identified, was the only person at the home on Lakeview Drive when the fire broke out. A police dispatcher said the fire occurred at 156 Lakeview Drive.

The Scott County Property Valuation Administrator Web site lists that home's owners as Charles B. and Sheila J. Wells.

Charles B. Wells is well-known in Frankfort. For years, he was the director of the Kentucky Association of State Employees, and he also served as executive director of the American Federation of Teachers - Kentucky. He took a post in the state Personnel Cabinet in 2008, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The state Democratic Party's Web site said Wells serves on the party's state central executive committee and chairs the Democratic Party's finance committee.

Goble said an autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday morning, and identification will be made then.

He said state police fire investigators were on the scene Tuesday night.
