- White Castle is now offering wine with their hamburgers, reports the Wall Street Journal. Since December, at the location in Lafayette Ind., White Castle has been "pairing some elegant aspirations with its rather unpretentious Sliders." The store offers four wine choices, each in seven ounce bottles. Bill Ingram, president and chief executive of White Castle, said, "I don't think we'll do scotch.". Richard Crosby, a music professor at Eastern Kentucky University, said to the Wall Street Journal, "I have never in my mind combined the idea of wine with White Castle." The Herald-Leader profiled Crosby and his love of White Castle.
- Kentuckian and comics "rock star of sorts among the fanboy set," Robert Kirkman will be one of the star attractions at the first-ever Image Expo this weekend in Oakland, Calif., reports the Contra Costa Times. The three-day fan fest is designed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Image Comics and celebrate independent, creator-owned comics. Kirkman is the creator of the comic book series The Walking Dead, which is also a television series.
- The Kentucky Geological Survey has posted data about the earthquake felt in Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee early Tuesday morning. The earthquake magnitude was 4.0 and felt in the western part of Kentucky, which is very near the epicenter in southeastern Missouri.
- A tribute to Mike Mullins, director of the Hindman Settlement School who died this week, is posted on Still, The Journal. " We would never have been able to launch a literary magazine if not for the love and support shown to us by Mike Mullins. ... We have been attending and teaching at the annual Appalachian Writers Workshop at Hindman for several years. Much of our confidence as editors came to us through the years because Mike “fathered” us in word, spirit and deed."
