District highlights: Franklin Co., East Jessamine, Madison Central boys win titles

Franklin County overcame a four-point deficit at halftime and defeated Woodford County 58-48 in the 41st District boys' championship game at the Frankfort Convention Center on Friday night.

The Flyers' Ryan Timmons was 8-for-14 from the field and finished with a game-high 17 points to go with six assists, six steals and four rebounds.

Chris Roberts and Casey Tabor added 12 points apiece for Franklin County. Roberts had 13 rebounds and Garrett Hamilton had 10.

Jay Johnson led the Jackets with 13 points and six rebounds. Rodney Gross and David Greenwell had 11 apiece.

East Jessamine 63, West Jessamine 56 (46th): With the game tied 54-54 with 1:19 left, the Jaguars closed on a 9-2 run to win the championship at Mercer County. Michael Rexroat hit five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 20 points.

No. 6 Madison Central 94, Madison Southern 55 (44th): The Indians jumped out to a 30-12 lead early in the second quarter and cruised to the victory in the finals at EKU's McBrayer Arena.

Ken-Jah Bosley led Madison Central with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Quan Taylor added 16 points and Dominique Hawkins had 13 points and four steals.

Ashland Blazer 75, Fairview 60 (64th): Cody Withrow scored 23 points and Corey Gregg had 21 for the host Tomcats in the finals.

No 23 Simon Kenton 80, Grant Co. 64 (32nd): Junior Andrew Sampson scored 11 of his 27 points in the first quarter of the Pioneers' win in the finals at Grant County.

Girls

No. 8 Madison Central 61, Madison Southern 41 (44th): Ashton Feldhaus scored 21 points, including going 10-for-11 from the free-throw line, and had six blocks and five rebounds in the finals at EKU's McBrayer Arena. Kristen Congleton added 12 points, four rebounds and four steals.

Woodford Co. 48, Franklin Co. 38 (41st): Freshman Chelsey Ford scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Woodford County's win in the finals at the Frankfort Convention Center.

No. 2 Marion Co. 70, Adair Co. 47 (20th): Kyvin Goodin-Rogers scored 19 points and Maykayla Epps had 15 for Marion County (28-4) in the finals at Taylor County.

No. 3 Perry Co. Central 81, Leslie Co. 41 (54th): Sophomore Kayla Rankin scored 24 points and the Lady Commodores improved to 26-2 with a win in the finals at Leslie County.

No. 15 Elizabethtown 72, North Hardin 54 (17th): Panthers eighth-grader Erin Boley had 18 points and seven rebounds in the finals at John Hardin.

No. 18 Green Co. 67, Hart Co. 48 (18th): Micah Jones scored 32 points for host Green County (25-6).

Pike Central 45, Belfry 42 (60th): Senior Reagan Clark scored 19 points, including the last three of the game, in the Lady Hawks' win in the finals at Phelps.
