- Yum Brands president David Novak discussed global business with USA Today. China is the fastest growing market for KFC: "China is the biggest retail opportunity in the 21st century. It's the biggest restaurant opportunity in the 21st century. The biggest challenge for us is (to) have leading brands in (key restaurant categories) in China … and to build the people capability that will accelerate and drive growth," Novak said.
- Barry Sharpe, the new senior director of operations for Bloom Energy, a venture-capital-backed firm that makes solid-oxide fuel cells, is a graduate of Georgetown College, reports the The News Journal in Wilmington, Delaware. Sharpe, who also worked at the Kentucky Toyota plant, played football at Georgetown College, where he was a punt returner. "Once you've experienced that adrenaline rush, looking up in the air with 21 people running at you, you never can repeat that the rest of your life," he said to the News Journal.
- The final edition of the Dictionary of American Regional English will be available in March, reports the New York Times. Kentucky is well-represented in the set, which was edited by Frederic G. Cassidy, "an exuberant Jamaican-born linguist given to signing off conversations with 'On to Z!'"
