Talking points

UK jumped up 7-1 on two dunks and a Terrence Jones three-pointer. Vanderbilt did not back off and became the more aggressive team. Miller and Kyle Wiltjer ignited a 17-4 Kentucky run and a 35-30 lead. Back came Vandy and it was 37-37 at the half. It was back-and-forth to start the second half. A couple of monster jams by Jones put UK up 54-49 at 10:36. The lead was still 62-57 when Vandy went to a zone with five minutes left. UK started missing open shots, and Vandy took the lead 65-62 with 1:30 left. UK did not answer. What looked like a tired UK team had no field goals after the eight-minute mark.

Telling numbers

■ Kentucky was 12-for-53 in the SEC Tournament on three-pointers.

■ Vandy shot 48 percent in the first half; UK 40 percent. Not many halves this year have had that kind of disparity.

■ Kidd-Gilchrist had five points, five fouls and no rebounds. Not typical — maybe time to start again.

■ Odd stat of the day? With 12 minutes left, Wiltjer had three blocks; Anthony Davis had one.

Thumbs up

■Miller stepped up Sunday. UK must have that the rest of the way.

■Jones was big all week.

■If you are one of those who believed UK needed another loss, here you go.

Thumbs down

■A team that has closed out opponents down the stretch all year, UK was outscored 14-2 to end this one.

■UK settled for too many three-pointers. In the first half, 16 of UK's 35 shots were three-pointers.

■Other than Wiltjer, UK's bench had zero points in the tournament.
