Two people shot early Tuesday in Lexington

Published: March 20, 2012

Two people were injured in two separate shootings early Tuesday in Lexington. A man was taken to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital about 3:50 a.m. after a shooting at Engman Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, said Sherelle Roberts, spokeswoman for the Lexington police. The man was listed in critical condition, Roberts said.

She said the man told police he was stopped at the intersection when a man approached his vehicle and shot him in the side.

The other shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m., when an off-duty officer heard shots and found a man who had been shot in the leg near Divas Gentlemen's Club at Russell Cave and New Circle roads. Roberts said his injuries weren't life-threatening.

In that incident, police charged Jafari Moore, 31, with second-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree robbery, possession of a handgun by a felon and tampering with physical evidence.

The names of the victims in both cases were not released.

Police also received a report of shots fired on Lincoln Avenue about 3 a.m., but no one appeared to have been injured, and there was no property damage.

Roberts said the shootings appeared to be unrelated.
