Richmond man accused of passing a school bus, nearly striking girl and her mother

Michael G. Murphy, 22, of Richmond was charged with wanton endangerment after his vehicle passed an unloading school bus and nearly struck a 6-year-old girl and her mother; he also was charged with driving with a suspended driver's license and disregarding a stop sign, Richmond police said.

About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the 200 block of Boggs Lane to investigate a report that a vehicle had disregarded the stop sign and flashing lights of a stopped school bus. Witnesses said the vehicle passed the bus on the right; Murphy's vehicle fit their description, police said.

Murphy posted bond and was released Thursday from the Madison County Detention Center.
