WINCHESTER — Clark County Attorney Brian Thomas said he plans to arraign Lillie Stanton on Wednesday in the deaths of her daughter and granddaughter in Winchester.

The case probably will be heard in Clark District Court about 1 p.m., he said.

Stanton, 48, faces two counts of murder in Sunday's stabbings of Danel Korrey Stanton, 23, and Kaydence Ray Miers, 22 months. Lillie Stanton stabbed herself after the killings, police say.

Stanton told police that she slashed the victims' throats because she feared that her granddaughter's father was about to gain more visitation time with the child, according to a uniform citation filed Thursday with the Clark District Court clerk's office.

The report, based on statements Stanton made to Winchester police, gives a detailed account of what happened at the Stanton residence at 233 Vaught Road on Sunday afternoon.

It also lists 1 p.m. Sunday as the time the killings occurred. Lillie Stanton's former husband, Robert Stanton, arrived at the house about 5 p.m. to discover the stabbings. He called police.

According to the citation, Lillie Stanton told officers she lifted Kaydence from a bed where the child was sleeping with her mother, carried her to the basement and slashed her throat.

Lillie Stanton then returned Kaydence to the bed, and slashed Korrey Stanton's throat, the report states. When that was not successful, Lillie Stanton proceeded to suffocate her daughter before cutting her own throat, according to the report.

An autopsy listed Kaydence's cause of death as cutting wounds to her throat. Korrey Stanton's cause of death is pending, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Lillie Stanton gave the statement to police Monday afternoon at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where she was flown for treatment Sunday.

According to the citation filed Thursday, Lillie Stanton told officers she was worried about her granddaughter getting more visitation with her father. It says Lillie Stanton thought about taking Kaydence and Korrey Stanton out of state but didn't have enough money to do it.

"The subject stated that she thought that killing them was the best thing to do," the report states.

Korrey Stanton was to have had a custody hearing Wednesday with Kaydence's father, Jonathon Miers.

Lillie Stanton has been transferred from UK Hospital to the Clark County jail.
