Bryan Station senior pitcher/center fielder Ryne Combs has been named Gatorade's Kentucky high school baseball player of the year.
Combs, a left-hander who has signed with Kentucky, threw a complete-game two-hitter to beat No. 1 Lexington Catholic 2-1 in the 11th Region semifinals on Tuesday night. He is 10-1 this spring, with 104 strikeouts in 71 innings and an 0.50 earned run average.
Combs, who bats leadoff for the Defenders, is hitting .370.
As a junior, Combs had a 7-2 record, 1.31 ERA and 88 K's in 62 innings. He also hit .423.
Combs has a 3.80 GPA in advanced courses.
