A teen-ager was shot in the abdomen by another boy Tuesday night southeast of Ravenna in Estill County, Kentucky State Police said.
Three male teens riding bikes found a .22-caliber revolver in a gravel pull-off at Old Landing Road and Little Buck Creek Road, said Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesman for the Richmond state police post.
During their handling of the firearm, one teen pulled the trigger and the weapon went off; the bullet hit one of the other teens. State police are not releasing the juveniles' ages or names.
The injured juvenile was taken by helicopter to University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital in Lexington. His condition was not known, Blanton said.
The shooting was reported shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
