A 6-year-old boy died late Friday night in a two-vehicle crash in northern Madison County, Kentucky State Police said.
Wellington Abreu of Richmond was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, according to a news release from the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
Abreu was a passenger in a Nissan Maxima driven by Richard Pojeky, 43, of Richmond. The car was headed south on Simpson Lane and turned left onto Walnut Grove Road, into the path of a 1995 Ford truck driven by Lewis Cole Jr., state police said. The truck struck the Nissan on the passenger's side a little after 10:35 p.m. Friday.
Pojeky had possible injuries to his chest, state police said. Cole was not injured.
Everyone in the crash was wearing seat belts, state police said.
