Lexington resident Brendan Kelly has advanced to the national finals of the American Ninja Warrior reality TV competition.
Kelly, an All-American football player and track standout at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, will compete against 99 other athletes in the competition, which challenges contestants to a grueling obstacle course.
Coverage of the national finals, previously recorded in Las Vegas, begins at 9 p.m. July 8 on G4 (Channels 143 and 975 on Lexington's Insight cable system). Broadcasts continue at 9 p.m. Sundays on G4 and 9 p.m. Mondays on NBC.
To qualify for the finals, Kelly turned in one of the top times in regional rounds. His qualifying performances, held in Miami, were broadcast Sunday and Monday. He finished 10th in the Southeast finals.
American Ninja Warrior's grand prize is $500,000.
