A mail carrier suffered significant injuries Thursday when he was bitten by a pit bull, Frankfort police said.
The carrier, Chris Lombardi, 42, was delivering mail to an address in the 200 block of Swigert Avenue when he was attacked by the large brown dog, said Frankfort police Maj. Fred Deaton. The incident was reported shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The carrier was bitten on his left forearm and legs, police said in a news release. He also had multiple bite wounds around his wrist and left leg.
The dog also bit the boot of an animal control officer who responded, but the officer was not injured.
Lombardi was treated at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Police and the animal control officer were consulting with County Attorney Rick Sparks on whether charges will be filed.
