An 86-year-old woman died Tuesday in Lexington after a crash in Lincoln County.
Bertha Vanhook, of Hustonville, was driving on Ky. 501 in the Kings Mountain community when the vehicle left the road and hit a concrete culvert at about 11:25 a.m.
Vanhook, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and later taken by helicopter to UK for surgical intervention, according to a news release from the Fayette County coroner's office.
Vanhook was pronounced dead as a result of multiple blunt force trauma at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital at 3:23 p.m., before the surgery.
