Kentucky schools well represented in NBA Summer League

Nineteen players tied to schools in the commonwealth, including eight from the University of Kentucky, will take part in the NBA Summer League, which begins Friday in Las Vegas.

Twenty-three of the league's 30 teams are represented in Summer League, which also includes a squad of Developmental League players.

All 60 games of the 10-day Summer League will be televised on NBATV, including 39 broadcast live.

Friday's schedule includes the debuts of former Kentucky standouts Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Terrence Jones.

Kidd-Gilchrist, the No. 2 overall pick in last month's NBA Draft by Charlotte, takes on Sacramento at 10 p.m. EDT. Jones, chosen No. 18 overall by Houston, plays at 6 p.m. against Toronto.

Anthony Davis, the No. 1 overall pick out of Kentucky, is scheduled to make his Summer League debut Sunday at 10:30 p.m. Davis' New Orleans Hornets, whose roster also includes second-round pick Darius Miller of Kentucky, goes against the Portland Trail Blazers.

On Monday night, Davis and Miller meet the Milwaukee Bucks and second-round pick Doron Lamb of Kentucky.

Davis' participation could be affected by his role with the Olympic team.

Marquis Teague will be the last of the six former Cats selected in this year's draft to make his debut when his Chicago Bulls play Boston on Tuesday at 10 p.m.

The other two former Wildcats in the Summer League are Daniel Orton of the Toronto Raptors and Eric Bledsoe of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Former Bryan Station High School standout Shelvin Mack will represent the Washington Wizards.

Ex-Louisville players in the Summer League are Derrick Caracter and Jerry Smith of the Atlanta Hawks, Samardo Samuels of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chris Smith of the New York Knicks and Edgar Sosa of the Sacramento Kings.

Morehead State is represented by Kenneth Faried and Demonte Harper of the Denver Nuggets. Former Murray State players include Tony Easley of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Ray George of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Ex-Western Kentucky player Juan Pattillo is part of the D-League Select roster.

The Orlando Pro Summer League, which wraps up Friday, includes three additional former Cats: Brandon Knight of the Detroit Pistons, DeAndre Liggins of the Orlando Magic and Enes Kanter of the Utah Jazz. Former U of L player Terrence Jennings is with the Philadelphia 76ers.
