LEXINGTON — Rainfall Sunday combined with a wet weekend at Whitaker Bank Ballpark created a waterlogged and unplayable outfield and forced the suspension of the contest between the Lexington Legends and the Hagarstown Suns.

The Legends led 8-1 in the fourth inning Sunday when play was stopped. The game resumes Monday at 5:05 p.m.

Hagarstown notched one run in the first, but the Legends answered with six of their own, highlighted by a Jose Fernandez double that drove in Nolan Fontana and Matt Duffy, and a single by Ryan McCurdy that sent Justin Gominsky and Fernandez home.

McCurdy scored next on a Ruben Sosa single in the third. Sosa himself scored on a line drive by Nolan Fontana.

Saturday's late game

Suns 9, Legends 4: Former University of Kentucky star Alex Meyer pitched six shutout innings as the Hagerstown Suns defeated the Lexington Legends Saturday night.

Meyer (7-4) allowed four hits, struck out nine batters and walked none.

Hagerstown scored a run in the first inning on a two-out single by Cutter Dykstra and a double by Steven Souza.

The Suns added two more runs each in the third and fourth and three runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-0.

The Legends cut the lead in half with four runs in the seventh but got no closer.

Lexington starter Juri Perez (0-1) picked up the loss in his Legends debut.
