Escaped convicted rapist now faces bail-jumping charges

A man who fled Fayette Circuit Court just before he was found guilty of rape and sodomy last week faces two additional charges.

John C. Buckley IV, 29, was indicted Tuesday on charges of bail jumping and tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, according to court documents.

Buckley was released from jail on bond during the trial last week, and he was not being directly supervised.

He had been ordered to wear an ankle monitor that tracked his location, but authorities said Buckley apparently cut off his ankle monitor and left it in the street.

Buckley was last seen by authorities about 3 p.m. July 12.
