Lexington man electrocuted at Georgetown plant

Published: July 19, 2012

A Lexington man who was electrocuted at a Georgetown auto-parts plant early Wednesday was an electrician who had worked there 14 years, Scott County Coroner John Goble said.

Steven Reynolds, 44, apparently thought the electricity to a machine he touched had been turned off, Goble said.

The accident, reported at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at Aichi Forge north of Georgetown, is being investigated as an accident by Goble and the state Labor Cabinet. Goble pronounced Reynolds dead at 5:15 a.m. at Georgetown Community Hospital.

Goble said he will meet Friday with representatives from the cabinet to share what he learned from interviews with other workers.

Aichi makes various components for the chassis and powertrains of vehicles. The company employs more than 200 people.
