Kentucky's Austin Cousino top hitter for Team USA

University of Kentucky freshman center fielder Austin Cousino concluded play with the USA Collegiate National Baseball Team on Sunday as the squad's leading hitter.

Cousino batted .351 over 16 games. The U.S. wrapped up the summer by winning the bronze medal at the Honkbal Week competition in the Netherlands.

Previously, Team USA took part in an event in Cuba. The U.S. squad finished the summer with a 12-5 record.

Cousino, the 2012 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year, went 13-for-37 in 16 games, totaling four doubles, five RBI and 10 runs scored. Cousino stole three bases during the summer and owned a .479 on-base percentage and a .459 slugging mark with the wooden bats used in the international competitions.

The U.S. beat the Netherlands 4-3 to claim the bronze during Honkbal Week. Cuba beat Puerto Rico 4-2 in the gold medal game.

The USA Collegiate National Team consisted of 22 of the top players in college baseball, coached by Tennessee's Dave Serrano.
