Two bodies found in a burned vehicle at an abandoned mine in Knott County were those of a couple from the community who were dating, Kentucky State Police said.

Police have identified the couple as David E. Sparkman, 26, and Keisha M. Sexton, 18, both of Topmost. Their bodies, which were burned beyond recognition, were found July 20 in a burned vehicle on Mullins Branch Road in the Topmost community.

State police have released few details about the investigation, including whether the two were killed before their bodies burned.

Anyone with information about the couple should call state police at (606) 435-6069.
